NameSense Guides — Getting Started, Rules and AI Setup

Rename your first files and undo

No AI needed. Download three practice files, preview names with Add Date, apply the changes and try undo. Check the result at each step.

Add dates, prefixes or numbers in batches

No AI needed. Follow a three-file numbering exercise, set order, padding and separators, resolve conflicts and reuse the rule for your next batch.

Organize PDFs by title

Existing PDF title or author metadata can be read locally. Extracting a title or year from document text needs AI. Compare two practice files to choose the right source.

Organize photos and screenshots

Use dimensions, counters and available capture dates locally. Describing a picture needs a vision model. Start with the dimensions-and-numbering exercise, then add AI if useful.

Connect an AI provider and model

Bring your API key, choose a suitable model, test and save, then review what data will be shared. Provider charges are separate; Pro includes no model credits.

Fix import, rename or purchase problems

Check formats, name conflicts and undo conditions, or find AI and purchase recovery help. If you are still stuck, use the problem report template to contact support.
